SICAB Anti-doping Verification Results
The results of the anti-doping verification tests carried out at the most recent edition of SICAB have been announced. All in all, 21 anti-doping tests were performed randomly on horses from among the top three winners in each conformation class and at the various levels of the Dressage competitions.
These tests were performed in keeping with the provisions of the Anti-Doping Regulations approved by the ANCCE Board of Directors on the 5th of November, 2025.The firm Compluvet—with ample and accredited experience in such testing—was contracted, as well as the prestigious LCH laboratory in Paris. This latter is a regular FEI collaborating entity.
Once the samples were sent to the laboratory, ANCCE received the results: all tests were negative, except for a case involving the horse “Jenante Torreluna”. This horse is owned by Yeguada San Nicolas, and placed third in Section 10.
PHENYLBUTAZONE, OXYPHENBUTAZONE, and METHOCARBAMOL were detected. All of the aforementioned elements are listed as “controlled” substances under international equestrian regulations. This includes the ANCCE rules in terms of the listing and category of said doping substances.
Based in this information, the corresponding regulatory procedure was launched to guarantee the horse’s breeder the right to a fair defense. Upon concluding this initial phase, disciplinary actions were drafted and affected party was informed.
The resolution adopted on the 16th of April 2026, was approved at the last Executive Committee meeting. During said meeting, the committee confirmed the positive test result for the horse “Jenante Torreluna” and applied the Sanctions foreseen in the resolution, as summarized herein:
1) Disqualification of the horse JENANTE TORRELUNA from the position earned in Section 10 of the World Conformation Championship. Third place will now go to the horse immediately after, as indicated by the rankings.
2) ANCCE will publish the results.
3) Exclude the horse JENANTE TORRELUNA from the section where it competed.
4) Return any trophies and monetary prizes received by the aforementioned mare within five (5) business days after receiving the corresponding notification.
5) Jenante Torreluna is prohibited from competing in any competition governed by Article 1 of the Substance Control Regulations for a period of one (1) year as of the notification date as issued by the Executive Committee, which concludes the disciplinary proceedings initiated due to doping.
