Implementation of a New Noseband Measuring Device at FEI Competitions
As of the 1 st of May, of this year 2025, the International Equestrian Federation (FEI) will be implementing a new device to measure noseband adjustment at all official competitions. In Spain, this rule enters into force at the International Dressage Competition (CDI) Las Cadenas. This event will be held from the 1 st to the 4 th of May in the town of Camarma de Esteruelas in Madrid.
The device is placed under the noseband, on the nasal bone, to then move up and down to verify the slack:
- If the device moves freely, without difficulty, the noseband complies the requirement.
- If the device fails to move freely, the noseband is considered too tight, and the mandates established in Article 1044 of the FEI Veterinarian Rules will be applied:
Prior to competition, the pair shall not begin the test until the noseband has been adjusted to allow adequate slack.
During the competition, the pair shall be eliminated and the rider shall be given a Yellow Card.
The measuring device is available at the FEI Fan Shop, with an exclusive 20% discount for athletes and FEI officials. To take advantage of this discount, introduce the code FEI9PFDXR once you go to the check-out. This discount is valid for twelve (12) months.
