2009 Golden Horse Award for Miguel Ángel de Cárdenas Osuna

Miguel Ángel de Cárdenas Osuna, owner of the Yeguada Cárdenas, PRE breeder and members of ANCCE, has been awarded the 2009 Golden Horse, the maximum distinction offered by the Jerez City Council, to the personalities that have been outstanding for their contribution to the world of the horse.
Miguel Ángel de Cárdenas, from Écija, has dedicated his life to the horse with his endless love for them. His international promotion of the PRE could not have been any better. Fuego XII is his current star horse, his best proclaimed discovery. He was the only PRE horse in the National Team participating in the most recent 2008 Olympics held in Beijing.

The Golden Horse Award commission was presided by the Mayor of Jerez, Ms. Pilar Sánchez, and the members of the commission were the Alderman for Economic Development, Francisco Lebrero; for Sports, Ainhoa Gil and for Culture, María Dolores Barroso.

There were also representatives from the Spanish Equestrian Federation, ANCCE, Yeguada de la Cartuja, Hierro del Bocado, the Provincial Tourism Office, the Ministry of Agriculture, the Royal Andalusian School of Equestrian Art, the Military Center for Equine Breeding, the Economic and Social Council, and two freely appointed members, selected by the Mayor from amongst personalities or accredited technicians linked with the equestrian sector.

This award is the recognition of a lifetime dedicated and linked to this noble animal. It will be presented next Saturday, the 16th of May, during the Jerez Horse Fair, the most important week on the Jerez calendar of festivities.
