LG PRE ANCCE Stud Book appoints a member on the World Breeding Federation for Sport Horses (WBFSH) Scientific Advisory Committee
Arancha Rodriguez, director of the PRE Stud Book, will represent ANCCE, which is a member of this Committee. Pedro J. Azor, assistant director of the Stud Book and Technical Director of the PRE Breeding Program will assist her.
The World Breeding Federation for Sport Horses (WBFSH) is a worldwide, non-profit federation that promotes the common interests of sport horse breeders. Its members include some 80 associated stud books the world over, including the Purebred Spanish Horse Stud Book (LG PRE ANCCE). In 2017, a committee was created for the Collaborative Implementation of Genomic Applications in Sport Horse Breeding (CIGA), the objective of which was to create a hub for scientists, evaluators and stud book representatives to come together and share knowledge, experiences, establish initiatives and projects, support research and the implementation of scientific advances in the field of sport horses.
To reflect the ample developments of this Committee and its activities in recent years, the name was changed to Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) and the Purebred Spanish Horse Stud Book (LG PRE ANCCE) was appointed as a new member of this Committee. The PRE Stud Book is represented by its director Arancha Rodriguez, who counts on the backing of Pedro J. Azor, assistant director and technical director of the PRE Breeding Program.
The objective of this Scientific Advisory Committee is to encourage and support the exchange, collaboration and cooperation of information among WBFSH member stud books. A number of areas are covered, including breed improvement, international breeding values and genomic selection. Currently, tremendous advances have been made in scientific research; this, in turn, is revolutionizing sport horse breeding. This translates into improved equine performance, welfare, longevity and health.
ANCCE, by means of its PRE Stud Book and molecular genetics laboratory, is delighted to work together with the other stud books while at the same time enriching its commitment to global research of both PRE horses and the sector. Undoubtedly, it is a new opportunity to strengthen our exchange of knowledge with members of other stud books and the scientific community in general.
