Breeder Miguel Ángel de Cárdenas Osuna passes away

Breeder Miguel Ángel de Cárdenas has died early this morning in the town of Écija at the age of 83.

As a founding member of ANCCE and member of the Spanish Academic Forum of Equestrian Studies, Cárdenas Osuna was one of Spain’s most renowned breeders. He earned a number of titles and awards including that of Honorary Member, the PRE Opinion Forum Award and the Golden Horse Award. Miguel Ángel Cárdenas was recognized by all for his professional career in agriculture and as a breeder of Purebred Spanish Horses throughout his life.

Yeguada Cárdenas attained countless achievements, including Best Breeder at SICAB, twelve Spanish National Champions with his horses, and another for five mares in addition to four awards for his Champion of Champions. Undoubtedly, his greatest success was his beloved horse Fuego de Cárdenas, “the Spanish King of Hearts.” This horse represented Spain at international events such as the Olympic Games in Beijing and London and the World Equestrian Games in Kentucky.
Our memories will always recall his values as a Purebred Spanish Horse breeder, his professional excellence, his generosity and the love he showed towards other breeders and his friends.

The funeral will be tomorrow, at noon at the church Santiago El Mayor in Écija (Sevilla).

From ANCCE, we would like to express our greatest sympathy for this loss, and join his family to support them throughout these difficult moments.
