    Carlos Bohorquez, Elected President of ANCCE for the Next Four Years


    The ANCCE (Royal Purebred Spanish Horse Breeders’ Association) has elected Carlos Bohorquez as its President for the next four years, after earning 262 votes in comparison with the other candidature. The widespread support received was the highlight of the election process with ample participation today, Tuesday, in the city of Sevilla.  

    The newly elected President expressed his satisfaction and excitement for the confidence shown by Association members.  He stated that he faces this new term with the commitment to reinforce the representation of breeders and continue to promote the development of the Purebred Spanish Horse sector.

    Among the main challenges of this new chapter, Bohorquez emphasized that his priority would “continue to work on behalf of all ANCCE breeders and owners” within the context of an era based on technological innovation and international expansion. His electoral program places members at the forefront of this strategy and is committed to modernizing conformation competitions with the incorporation of artificial intelligence, digital models, and virtual, 3D environments.

    Among the main focal point is hosting the World Dressage Championships for Young Horse in Spain, in addition to promoting the Molecular Genetics and Genomics Laboratory as a new source of Association revenue. At the same time, his leadership seeks to  strengthening marketing through the Association’s own channels, and with a comprehensive and more efficient management of SICAB.

    At the 53rd ANCCE General Assembly, held this morning in Sevilla, members ratified the management report for the 2025 fiscal year and approved the annual accounts, as well as the 2026 budget for five million euros. Moreover, the resolutions adopted by the Board of Directors during the previous fiscal year were confirmed.

    With regards to sports, the Association will continue to move forward with the redesign of its competition strategy by launching new national circuits and the promotion of PRE teams in disciplines of both Dressage and Working Equitation at international competitions, including the World Dressage Championship for Young Horses and the World Working Equitation Championships. At the same time, ANCCE will back the promotion of Purebred Spanish Horses both in Spain and abroad to consolidate the brands ANCCE, Purebred Spanish Horse (PRE), and SICAB, with active presence at national and international equestrian fairs and events. Likewise, communication campaigns in strategic markets in the United States and Germany will also be undertaken.

    When it comes to the Purebred Spanish Horse Stud Book (LG PRE ANCCE), Director Arancha Rodriguez presented the 2025 annual report. Said report indicated the registration of 12,747 new PRE horses and the incorporation of 2,835 new stud farms. As of the 31st of December of 2025, the total herd population stood at 291,138 horses (143,091 mares and 148,047 stallions), owned by 51,354 active stud farms in 71 countries. These statistics prove that PRE Horses are the main horse breed in Spain, thus representing approximately 70% of all horses registered in the country. Of the newly registered stud farms, 41% are located internationally, with Italy topping the list, followed by the United States, and Germany. The other 59% are located in Spain, with Andalusia (47%), the Valencian Community, and Madrid having the most registrations.

    Lastly, the Assembly selected the 2026 Honorary Members. This honor was granted posthumously to breeder Fernando Vara Muñoz-Casillas. Ivan Rizos Lopez from Nicaragua was also granted the aforementioned honor.  The dates for the 36th edition of SICAB (2026 International PRE Trade Fair), the World PRE Horse Championship will be from the 17th to the 22nd of November in Sevilla.
